Benjamin Mickey, LPCC-S

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor – Supervisor

Benjamin Mickey is a counselor and supervisor who has over seven years of experience in direct client care. Prior to private practice, Ben has worked with diverse clients in college, community mental health, and crisis intervention settings. Ben has been working in private practice for over 2 years and has served as Wellness Grove’s Clinical Internship Manager since March 2025.

Ben identifies with a CBT-oriented theoretical orientation with clients, while leveraging the use of Motivational Interviewing to help drive client change. Ben’s interest in Motivational Interviewing was sparked when he attended two 6 credit hours of training on Motivational Interviewing from the Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery Board. Ben enjoys personal inquiries into the use of Motivational Interviewing and promotes its use while leading weekly internship group supervisions. Ben has worked extensively with clients suffering from trauma-related diagnoses including PTSD. Ben identifies the use of trauma-informed care while addressing the sensitivity of the concerns his clients have shared.

In his role as Clinical Internship Manager, Ben leverages both his clinical expertise and his supervisory experience to cultivate an enriching environment where interns can thrive. He believes that sharing knowledge, modeling best practices, and promoting a culture of curiosity and empathy empower emerging clinicians to transform themselves and the communities they serve. Rather than providing one-size-fits-all solutions, he encourages self-reflection, independent problem-solving, and critical thinking to build genuine clinical confidence.
