Gina Bowers, LISW-S, CCTP-II, EMDR-C

Licensed Independent Social Worker – Supervisor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (Level 2), Certified EMDR Therapist

Gina is an LISW-S with over 14 years of experience in the mental health field. Prior to joining Wellness Grove, Gina began her career working with individuals experiencing homelessness, then eventually transitioned within her previous agency to counseling, and eventually a program manager of their sexual assault program. When first beginning with the sexual assault program, she quickly realized that she felt less-than equipped to effectively counsel survivors of trauma. While searching online for training ideas, she saw a video about a therapy she had never heard of before; EMDR. After seeing this ten-minute clip, her life was changed. Gina immediately made the commitment to be trained in this trauma modality despite it being seemingly unheard of within her agency. Seeing the positive impact it was having on her clients, she completed EMDR certification. As her passion continued to grow and develop, she would go on to complete hundreds of hours of specialized trauma-focused trainings and certifications including becoming a Level II Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Certified Victims Advocate, and being trained in: Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Brainspotting, Four Blinks, the FLASH technique, Internal Family Systems, Ego-State Therapy, Structural Dissociation, and the Neurobiology of Sexual Violence and Trauma. Gina’s dedication to her clients has also been recognized by others in the community. She was awarded “Professional of the Year in 2021-2022” by NAMI of Stark County, “Collaborative Partner of the Year” by the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, and was recently awarded the “2024 Above and Beyond Award” from the Stark County Victims’ Rights Coalition.
