Program Description
New professionals often feel ill-prepared to deal with the complexities of becoming Trauma Informed. This CEU will describe definitions of trauma, transitioning from trauma awareness to trauma informed, and the principles of trauma informed care. I will discuss the clinical perspective on why it matters to be trauma informed, and detail the six guiding principles of trauma-informed care, as well as outline why trauma-informed care should matter to all of us. The signs and symptoms of trauma will be highlighted, the ACEs assessment will be examined, and give suggestions for how new professionals can learn more, with an eye towards how supervision, licensure, and ongoing education can help in this professional transition.
