Program Description

This course will focus on the ethical considerations for the use of spirituality as a guiding principle in modern day counseling. Spirituality is a powerful factor in the human experience and can be interpreted differently from individual to individual. This training will aim to define ethical considerations and potential issues in the use of spirituality while abiding by a multicultural competent framework. This training will review the ethical use of spirituality as a whole and not the individual theological or spiritual standing of any one belief system or framework. The training will reference the ethical codes for Counselors (ACA), Social Workers (NASW) and Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).

  • Attendees will be able to identify a minimum of 3 common ethical concerns in the use of spirituality in counseling
  • Attendees will learn how to implement spirituality in counseling while abiding by the guiding principles of multicultural competency
